Glasgow-based Victor Lighting made the journey to the USA to exhibit their hazardous area lighting solutions at the 2015 Offshore Technology Conference earlier this month.
The event in Houston, Texas, took place on May 4th-7th and Victor Lighting were among more than 2,600 exhibitors taking part across nearly 700,000 square feet of exhibition space.
Victor are known particularly for their hazardous area lighting, especially for the offshore oil and gas industries, with innovations like LED perimeter lighting for helidecks.
Among their solutions for arduous working environments are several truly unique innovations, and the OTC 2015 convention was an opportunity for the US market to see these close up.
Safety in general was one of the main focuses of OTC 2015, which saw the launch of SafeOCS, an initiative of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.
This scheme involves collecting near-miss data to help identify potential safety problems in offshore environments, and take action against them before an injury or fatality occurs.
In a high-stakes working environment with more than its share of hazardous areas, a combination of innovative technology and smart working practices can help to deliver on this ambition, protecting workers in the years to come.
