Three locations for hazardous area lighting

Three locations for hazardous area lighting

This entry was posted in hazardous area lighting on by .

Hazardous area lighting should be designed to take the risks of the zone into account – for example, not emitting high levels of heat in the presence of combustible gases or dusts.

But the location of hazardous area lighting can play a part in ensuring it illuminates the right area, while keeping it well clear of causing any kind of obstruction.

1. Heli deck LED lighting

LED lighting signals the safe landing area on a heli deck and can be a literal lifesaver in harsh weather conditions, such as those often seen on oil rigs.

Perimeter lights safely indicate the edge of the pad while leaving the central landing area free from obstruction, and are rugged and resistant to vibrations so they stay lit throughout rough landings.

2. Bulkhead lighting

Bulkhead LED lighting is an option in Zone 1 hazardous areas, and again these lights are built using rugged construction, and may have an optional wire guard for extra protection.

3. Signals and escape lighting

Don’t forget to install signal lighting – it can be a lifesaver during any kind of incident that requires evacuation of the site.

Escape lighting can be centrally or group powered to stay lit when the area’s other lighting goes out, with fire exit and escape route graphics as required so it is immediately clear which way to go next.
